With the peace agreement, ending a 52-year civil conflict and promising political stability, together with rapid economic growth and unexploited tourism potential, Colombia has truly become a holiday destination. Cartagena, a UNESCO World Heritage site on the tropical Caribbean coast, plays the primary role in Colombia’s tourism renaissance. The historic sites from the Spanish colonial times are being restored, private investments are visible throughout the city and an increased number of local people benefit from the boom of the travel related services.
