A table football player figure, with a painted yellow shirt, is seen inside the table football box on the street of Pesillo, a small village in the mountains of Ecuador, 26 June 2010. Table football, also known as futbolin in Latin America, is a widely popular table-top game in Ecuador. During the annual fairs, the rusty old outdoor-designed tables, fully ocuppied by excited children, may be found on all public places, particularly on the squares and in the parks. Human players use figures mounted on rotating bars to kick the small plastic ball into the opposing goal. Each team of 1 or 2 human players controls 4 rows on its side of the table. The game ends when one team scores a predetermined number of goals. In 2002, the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF) was established to promote the sport of table football.
