A plastic barrel, splattered with colorful paint, is seen in a small scale bicycle factory in Cali, Colombia, 27 June 2014. Due to the strong, vibrant cycling culture in Colombia, with cycling being one of the two most popular sports in the country, dozens of bike workshops and artisanal, often family-run bicycle factories were always spread out through the Colombian cities. However, growing import of cheap bicycles and components from China during the last decade has led to a significant decline in domestic bicycle production. Traditional no-name bike manufacturers are forced to close down their factories, struggling to survive in the competitive bicycle market.
